The aiming algo is the same as in pooltool1.7.
Maybe try to make use of the pockets button.
You can place the pockets a bit inside, normal or a bit outside of the table.
If you play a ball long-line, you should put the pockets inside the table. for the middle pockets, you should place them normal. For balls close to the pocket you can put the pocket inside.
Also you can specify how much the pockets switch for the pocket button.
Launch the program like this:
java -jar pooltool*.jar --playray --pocket-offset 10
This will make the pockets jump 10 pixels when pressing the pocket button. (Default is 13 pixels i think)
Hope this gives you better results.
